Agents from the Criminal Investigation Department, Police Intelligence, and the Special Operations Command organized simultaneous searches in multiple locations throughout the city-state as part of the operation.

This maneuver is part of the constant efforts to end the illicit games at a distance, especially during the current 2018 FIFA World Cup, said Singapore Police Deputy Commissioner Florence Chua.

Preliminary investigations determined that the suspects made and received illegal bets worth more than $4 million during the last fortnight, he added.

"We will continue to crack down on those who break the law, including those who help the remote gambling syndicates in any way," Chua said.
