Power outage hits San Diego

A power outage left wide swaths of central San Diego in the dark for about an hour Tuesday.

The outage began about 5:45 p.m., knocking out electrical service to nearly 7,500 customers in City Heights, Chollas Creek, the College Area, Kensington, Normal Heights, North Park, Oak Park, Talmadge and University Heights, according to San Diego Gas and Electric.

Repair crews had power restored to all the affected neighborhoods by 6:45 p.m., the utility reported.

The cause of the outage was under investigation.
