India's coronavirus vaccine possible by 2021 first quarter

India's Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, said that the country's coronavirus vaccine might be ready by the first quarter of 2021.

Vardhan noted on social media that the Government is taking all precautions in conducting the vaccine's clinical trials on humans, All India Radio reported.

The National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 is drawing up a detailed strategy on how to immunize the majority of the Indian population, the minister added.

Issues such as the vaccine's safety, cost, equity, cold-chain requirements and production timelines are also being discussed, he said.
