Explosion happens in Texas energy facility

A natural gas pipeline was accidentally struck and erupted in flames in an energy facility east of Houston, Texas, local authorities confirmed.

Authorities said the pipe line exploded at around 4:45 p.m. local time at the Lone Star NGL facility, about 30 miles (about 48.3 km) east of Houston.

So far, firefighters had contained the fire and the leakage, and no injuries were reported, officials said.

A statement from Lone Star NGL said that a contractor struck an underground pipeline.

"There have been no evacuations and the area is secure. Our emergency response plan has been activated, and responders from the local fire department and our fire team are on site for a joint response," said the statement.
