The Ethiopian PM launched a massive tree planting project two years ago as part of the government's plan to bring an end to the rising deforestation, which the Ethiopian government frequently labeled as "a daunting challenge" to the country's green economy strategy.

The East African country, aware of the impacts of climate change, has in recent years embarked on an ambitious tree-planting initiative, through a project dubbed "Green Legacy."

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), the annual ambitious reforestation initiative is "critical for Ethiopia which has lost billions of trees and forest resources over the years."
