Experts reached a consensus to implement a projectof a request document from the Caribbean that is backed by a programme for the effective, efficient and timely completion of the code.

It is expected that the plan reduces dependence on imported fossil fuels, and contributes to the fulfilment of the national goals of sustainable use of energy and global commitments for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The regional project team includes experts in rational use of energy and development of standards, who were nominated by the national offices of standards in the region.

At its first meeting in Kingston, Jamaica, at the beginning of this year, designers adopted the use of the international code for the conservation of energy (IECC 2018) 2018 as a reference for the Caribbean, with cooperation between the Caricom Secretariat and the Regional Organization of standards and quality of the block.
