The committee is made up of 13 members, three of which selected from the Americas. Brazil will fill the spot vacated by Argentina, which leaves the post after the regular three-year term.

With the election, the country gains an active seat in the global debate of security and policing measures, as well as closer ties that can help the Brazilian Federal Police establish international agreements in these areas.
