According to the reports, a part of the mine collapsed following the explosion triggered by the accumulation of methane gas produced from the coals, killing nine miners and trapping two others.

The incident happened in the Akhrowal area of Kohat, a district in KPK province.

Police said 11 workers were working in the mine when the incident occurred, adding that rescue workers have so far recovered the bodies of nine miners with efforts underway to save the other two trapped inside.

Earlier on Aug. 13, at least seven laborers were killed and nine others critically injured in a coal mine explosion in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, according to officials in the province.
