“Napoleon’s famous boots were sold for 117,208 euros… there are still a lot of fans of the Empire,” Drouot representatives note.

The auction house’s website reports that Napoleon wore these boots while in exile on St. Helena. Later, Henri Bertrand, his friend and one of the generals who accompanied Bonaparte on the island, lent these boots to the sculptor Carlo Marochetti to work on an equestrian statue of the Emperor.

Initially, the cost of the boots was estimated at 50-80 thousand euros.
