The Gauge found that 70% of drivers will not take a road trip this Fourth of July. In fact, drivers are reluctant to stray far at all as 80% of Americans plan to travel 20 miles or less for their Fourth of July festivities.

All Americans have their own traditions for celebrating the Fourth of July, but when asked how they will spend this holiday, the most popular festivities are a good old fashioned BBQ at 54%, and watching fireworks at 53%.

While the majority of Americans plan to stay close to home this holiday weekend, summer is still an ideal travel time. When Hankook asked Americans if they will take a road trip at some point this summer, 63% of drivers responded that they will hit the open roads. For those summer road-trippers, 62% said they plan on traveling for 400 miles or more.

The Hankook Tire Gauge Index is a quarterly survey of Americans that uncovers their attitudes and opinions about all things related to driving.
