Europe   Obese patients can wait eight months for a doctors’ appointment

Patients in Portugal currently wait around eight months for an obesity appointment.

According to the Health Regulator, in the SNS National Health Service obese patients can wait eight months for a doctors’ appointment and a further eight for surgery.

This means any patient requiring surgery to tackle obesity faces a wait of around 16 months, making it the worst-performing field in medical specialties available in the SNS.
