Ireland: Positivity rate in coronavirus tests continues to decline

The Chief Executive of the Health Service Executive in Ireland Paul Reid said the positivity rate in testing for coronavirus is continuing to decline.

In a post on Twitter, Paul Reid said: "The positivity rate in testing has now come down over the past 8 days. The number of close contacts is now down to an avg. of 3.

"Most close contacts are household. Still very early but good. We're all be part of the solution. Let's keep this going."

Latest figures from public health officials show there are 295 patients in hospital with coronavirus, of which 37 are in intensive care.

The total number of coronavirus related deaths in Ireland to 1,882, while the number of confirmed cases is now 56,108.
