The results of their study have been published by the American Journal of Gastroenterology.

Topics: Chinese coronavirus

The findings come from an examination of 204 infected people in three Chinese hospitals.

According to the researchers, 48.5 percent of them complained about indigestion, which occurred simultaneously with the symptoms of the respiratory tract.

However, some people only suffered from diarrhea and had no fever or cough. It is noteworthy that the time from the appearance of the first signs to hospitalization would be significantly longer in patients with digestive symptoms than in patients without them (9.0 vs. 7.3 days).

The main complaint in gastrointestinal disorders is anorexia (more than 80 percent of cases).

Almost a third of the patients complained of diarrhea, 0.8 percent of nausea and 0.4 percent of abdominal pain.

Indigestion increased with the development of the disease.

The study showed that people who only suffered from breathing disorders recovered faster: at the end of the study, 60 percent of these patients were discharged from the hospital, compared to only 34.4 percent of those with indigestion.
