Ukraine's foreign trade deficit estimated at $682.6 million

The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods in the first half of 2016 was estimated at $682.6 million against a $351.1 million surplus registered in the same period of 2015.

This is according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. Goods exports from Ukraine in January-June 2016 fell year-over-year by 10.7%, to $16.623 billion, while goods imports dropped by 5.3%, to $17.306 billion.

The ratio of coverage of imports by exports was 0.96 (it was 1.02 in January-June 2015). Ukraine traded with partners from 214 countries and regions.

Goods exports to the European Union countries climbed by 6.7%, to $6.517 billion year-over-year. Goods shipments to the EU accounted for 39.2% of overall exports.

Goods imports from the EU rose by 2.8%, to $7.672 billion and accounted for 44.3% of overall imports.

Goods exports to the Russia decreased by 34.6%, to $1.518 billion, while goods imports from Russia declined by 42.4%, to $2.137 billion.
