UK GDP up 0.3 percent in last quarter, down 0.1 percent in August

British gross domestic product (GDP) contracted 0.1 percent in August 2019, compared with the previous month, according to a survey released the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Meanwhile, in the three months to August 2019, its GDP grew 0.3 percent, compared with the preceding three months, mainly driven the services sector.

Data showed that in the three months to August 2019, British services sector rose 0.4 percent from the previous three months, with the main contributor being the professional, scientific and technical parts.

In addition, in the three months to August 2019, the production sector decreased 0.4 percent, as manufacturing plunged 1.1 percent.

Figures showed the construction sector increased 0.1 percent in the three months to August, driven private new housing, public housing repair and maintenance and private commercial.
