Economy in Asia   The finance minister:

Thailand's economy is estimated to have expanded 3.2-3.3 percent last year, while growth in 2017 could be faster than forecast, the finance minister said.

The economy this year should grow faster than the ministry's earlier forecast of 3.4 percent, helped by extra public spending, Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong told reporters.

Apisak said he expected about 230 billion baht ($6.5 billion) in spending on infrastructure projects this year. Official 2016 GDP data is due to be released next month.
