Puerto Rico's government confirms unprecedented over one million workers

Governor Ricardo Rossello Nevares declared that the estimated number of working people in Puerto Rico exceeds one million, an unprecedented figure in the last five years.

Similarly, the Puerto Rican President said that most commercial sectors reflect sales growth of up to 46.9 percent, after the decline caused by Cyclone Maria almost nine months ago, which led to the bankruptcy of many small businesses.

With regard to employed persons, it is the highest number registered in more than five years, according to recent surveys released by the Labor Ministry.

But he acknowledged that "we face great challenges to continue developing Puerto Rico to its maximum level; we still have a lot of work to do."
