The producer confidence indicator, which measures Dutch manufacturers’ sentiment, decreased from October’s 4.3 to 3.4 in November, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

According to the CBS, the deterioration reflected that producers had become less positive regarding future output over the next three months as well as about their order books.
On the upside, they were more positive about their stocks of finished products. In terms of specific sectors, confidence decreased the most among producers of paper and printing materials, followed by the transport vehicles and equipment industry.
In contrast, confidence increased in the wood and construction industry as well in the textiles, clothes and leather industries.
For 2016, FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see fixed investment growing 5.8%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast.
For 2017, the panel expects fixed investment to expand 3.2%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. ■
