Mexico GDP growth lowest since Q4 2013

The Mexican economy expanded 1.4 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2016, slowing from a 2.6 percent expansion in the previous period and missing market expectations of 2.4 percent gain.

It was the lowest reading since the last quarter of 2013, as services and agriculture expanded while a contraction in industry weighed on growth.

The services sector advanced 2.4 percent and agriculture grew 4.3 percent. By contrast, the industrial output fell 0.5 percent.

On a quarterly basis, the economy shrank 0.3 percent, the first contraction in three years.
