The Mexican economy expanded 1.4 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2016, slowing from a 2.6 percent expansion in the previous period and missing market expectations of 2.4 percent gain.

The services sector advanced 2.4 percent and agriculture grew 4.3 percent. By contrast, the industrial output fell 0.5 percent.
On a quarterly basis, the economy shrank 0.3 percent, the first contraction in three years. ■
