The PMI comes in at 50.4 percent, the same rate as August and stays in expansion for the second month in a row. The PMI for the high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries kept a faster pace at around 52 percent.

Aerospace, railway, automobile, and electronic devices manufacturing PMIs are all above 52 percent as well.

Controls on surpluses led to a drop for nonmetal mineral products and the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing.

China's non-manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index stood at 53.7 percent in September, a slight increase from the previous month's reading.
