Lithuania inflation continues to climb in FebruaryStaff Writer | March 24, 2017
Consumer prices in Lithuania rose 0.4% in February from the previous month, which was a notch above the 0.3% increase in January.
Europe According to the Statistical Institute:
Inflation came in at 3.0% in February. This was notably above January’s 2.3% and marked the highest reading in over four years.
Meanwhile, harmonized inflation (based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices) rose to 3.2% in February from January’s 2.5%, which was the highest increase in prices seen since October 2012.
Annual average HICP inflation consequently rose from 0.8% in January to 1.1% in February.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect harmonized inflation to reach 1.6% in 2017, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2018, the panel sees inflation accelerating to 2.2%. ■
