Latvia producer prices index falls at faster rate in January

Latvia's producer prices decreased at faster pace in January, figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed.

The producer price index fell 2.0 percent year-over-year in January, following a 1.6 percent drop in December. Prices have been falling since January 2015.

Both domestic and foreign market producer prices slipped by 2.9 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively in January from a year ago.

Prices in the manufacturing sector slid 1.4 percent, while that for mining and quarrying sector grew by 6.0 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices edged down at a stable pace of 0.2 percent at the beginning of the year. It was the second consecutive monthly fall.
