Japan's exports fall for 19th straight month

Japan's exports declined for the 19th straight month in June due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, though trade with China showed some signs of recovery.

Exports fell 26.2% in June from a year earlier, following a 28.3% drop in the previous month. Economists surveyed by data provider FactSet had forecast a 24.2% decline.

Exports to China fell 0.2% in June from a year earlier, compared with a 1.9% drop in May. Imports from China rose 0.8%, improving from a 2% fall in the previous month.

Meanwhile, exports to the U.S. remained weak, falling 46.6% due to lower demand for cars and auto parts.
