Japan March Eco Watchers' index climbs less than forecast

A measure of peoples' assessment of the Japanese economy increased less-than-expected in March, after falling in the previous two months, survey figures from the Cabinet Office showed.

Asia   According to the Cabinet Office:
The current index of Economy Watchers' survey rose to 45.4 in March from 44.6 in the previous month. Economists had expected the index to climb to 46.4.

Any reading above 50 indicates optimism and a reading below 50 suggests pessimism.

At the same time, the outlook index fell to 46.7 in March from 48.2 in February. In contrast, it was expected to rise slightly to 48.3.
