Industrial production rebounds strongly in Czech Republic

Industrial production jumped 7.0% year-on-year in Czech Republic in November, which contrasted the 1.7% contraction registered in October.

The reading mainly reflected expansions in the manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.

In contrast, manufacturing of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations as well as mining and quarrying decreased.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial output grew 1.7% in seasonally-adjusted terms in November, which contrasted October’s 0.3% decrease.

As a consequence of November’s increase, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from 2.8% in October to 2.9% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 3.6% in 2017 which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.

For 2018, panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.1%.
