The bankruptcies in Belgium in October resulted in a loss of 1,780 jobs: 997 full-time employees, 417 part-time employees and 366 salaried employers lost their jobs, 922 businesses went bankrupt.
Europe A loss of 1,780 jobs
In the last six months, compared to the same period last year, the number of failed businesses in the industry sector dropped by 6.9%.
In construction this number dropped by 8.8%; whereas in commerce there was a rise by 2.4%.
The hotel and catering industry rose by 16.1%. The number of bankruptcies in transportation and other services rose by 2.5%.
At regional level and in the same period there was rise by 7.8% in Flemish Region, a decrease of 6.8% in the Walloon Region and a rise of 2.2% in the Brussels-Capital Region. ■
