Greece trade deficit widens 39% y-o-y in September

Commercial transactions' trade balance in Greece posted a deficit of 1.9 billion euros in September, up 39%, y-o-y, the statistics office or ELSTAT said.

Excluding the impact of oil products and ships, the commercial trade deficit widened by 5.6%.

Imports grew 20.% y-o-y, while excluding oil products and ships, imports were up 3.8%. Exports firmed 9.4% but after the impact of oil and ships, exports were up 2.4% y-o-y in August.

In the January-September period, the trade balance showed a deficit of 16.4 billion euros, up 1.4% y-o-y, but excluding oil products and ships, the balance expanded by 4.8%.
