French consumer confidence steady in December

French consumer confidence was stable in December for the third consecutive month, belying concerns that the November terror attacks would rattle households in the eurozone's second-largest economy.

Consumer confidence measured by Insee was stable at 96 in December. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast a one point decline to 95.

French consumers' assessment of their future financial situation and capacity to save improved. However, households had a gloomier assessment of standards of living, while unemployment expectations were on the rise, Insee said.
