The manufacturing sentiment index rose to 103 in August from 101 in July. The survey showed that industrial production grew sharply in August.
Nonetheless, business leaders expect only moderate growth in industrial activity in September.
The confidence index in services held steady at 102 in August. Service sector activity remained strong and it is expected to grow at the same pace in September.
Meanwhile, the business sentiment indicator in construction fell to 103 from 104 in July. In September, construction sector activity is forecast to rise overall at the same rate as in August. ■
