Serbia's environment minister Goran Trivan said drought, floods and other severe weather conditions caused damages worth 5 billion euros ($5.9 billion) to the country between 2000 and 2015.

Serbia plans to have in place by 2019 a scheme of national targets for lower greenhouse gas emissions by establishing long-term goals and monitoring and reporting on their implementation, Trivun said during the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 23) in Bonn, in Germany.
In May 2014 Southeastern Europe (SEE) was hit by devastating floods that cost around 1.5 billion euro to Serbia and 2 billion euro to Bosnia and Herzegovina. ■
