Industrial production in the Czech Republic expanded 2.7% year-on-year in December, down from November’s robust 8.5% increase.

These more than offset decreased output in manufacture of basic metals. It should be noted that December 2017 contained two working days less than the same month a year earlier.
In seasonally-adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial output contracted 1.5% in December, a marked downturn from the previous month’s 3.6% expansion. Subsequently, annual average growth in industrial production decreased from 5.8% in November to 5.7% in December.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 3.7% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, panelists also expect industrial output to expand 3.7%. ■
