Brazil’s GDP up 0.6% in Q3

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported economic growth quarter-on-quarter, with agriculture leading the way.

Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was up 0.6% in Q3 from Q2. The result was made public by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

Year-on-year in Q3, GDP widened 1.2%.

In the 12 months through Q3, GDP climbed 1%. Year-to-date through September also saw 1% growth.

Brazil’s GDP was BRL 1.842 trillion in Q3 2019. Agriculture saw the strongest growth at 1.3%, followed by industry, up 0.8%, and services, up 0.4% quarter-on-quarter.

On the expenditure side, gross fixed capital formation (up 2%) and consumption by households (up 0.8%) stood out. Government consumption spending was down 0.4% quarter-on-quarter.

Goods and services exports were down 2.8%, and goods and services imports were up 2.9%.
