Brazil created 1.4 million jobs in six months

The numbers were released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

According to the institute, the number of unemployed in Brazil reached 13.1 million people from June to August, a 4.8% decrease in comparison with the quarter ended in May.

The numbers of actively employed people in Brazil rose by 1.5% in relation to the previous quarter.

In practice, this means that more than 1.4 million people have been repositioned in the job market and are once again earning income.

According to the survey, the number of people formally employed remained stable at 33.4 million people, while the number of self-employed workers grew by 2.8% compared with the same quarter last year (+612,000 people).

In turn, the level of employment, an indicator that measures the overall percentage of employed persons in the country, stood at 54% in the quarter ended in July, which represents an increase of 0.6 p.p. over the previous quarter.
