Staff Writer | August 28, 2017

The increase was driven by higher output in the manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sub-sectors, which more than offset lower output in the mining and quarrying sub-sector.

Industrial production rose 2.1% in June on a year-on-year basis, down from May’s revised 7.5% rise (previously reported: +5.0% yoy). Annual average growth in industrial production decreased from 3.7% in May to 3.4% in June.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 2.3% in 2017, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.

For 2018, the panel sees industrial production growth rising slightly to 2.6%.
