The consumer confidence index declined to -8 from -7 in March. The score was the lowest since October last year.

The latest decline was largely due to households' less favorable expectations about their own situation, the bank said. The corresponding index declined for a third straight month to -5.

Households also turned pessimistic regarding their saving prospects in the next 12 months. The relevant index eased to -1 from 3.

Consumers' expectations regarding the country's economic situation improved slightly with the index rising to -10 from -11.

The measure reflection households' unemployment expectations for the next twelve months remained unchanged at 15.
