Armenia public debt at 56.8 percent of GDP

Armenia’s overall public debt by the end of 2017 will amount to 56.8% of GDP, or $6.34 billion, according to Finance Minister Vardan Aramyan, ARKA reported.

Speaking at a news conference, Aramyan said in the outgoing year the country’s public debt is worth $5.9 billion, or 55.5% of GDP.

The minister added that Armenia’s domestic debt in 2016 was worth the equivalent of $1 billion, the debt of the Central Bank was $511 million, and the rest was the external debt.

Speaking about 2017, Aramyan noted that the domestic debt will increase approximately to $1.16 billion, that of the Central Bank will grow to $566 million, and the remaining will be external debt.
