Earnings per share, meanwhile, declined 11 percent to 0.24 euro from 0.27 euro a year ago.

Results from operations improved 17.7 percent year-over-year to 128 million euros.

Quarterly revenues increased 7.1 percent to 1.71 billion euros from 1.60 billion euros last year.

For the first half, consolidated group revenues grew 9 percent to 3.49 billion euros.

The sugar and CropEnergies segments were the main contributors to the higher revenues.

Südzucker continues to expect fiscal 2018 group consolidated revenues of 6.7 billion euros to 7.0 billion euros, higher than last year's 6.5 billion euros.

Operating profit is still expected to come in between 425 million euros and 500 million euros, compared to 426 million euros last year, driven mainly by significantly higher sugar segment results.
