Lonmin pretax loss $355 million for year

Lonmin plc reported a pretax loss of $355 million for the year ended 30 September 2016 compared to a loss of $2.26 billion, prior year.

Loss to shareholders was $342 million compared to a loss of $1.66 billion. Loss per share in cents was 137.0 compared to a loss of 3,437.6.

The Group reported underlying operating profit of $7 million compared to a loss of $134 million, prior year. Underlying loss before taxation narrowed to $3 million from a loss of $143 million.

Underlying loss per share in cents was 35.6 compared to a loss of 194.5.

For the year ended 30 September, revenue was $1.12 billion compared to $1.29 billion, prior year.

In 2016, Lonmin sold 735,747 ounces of platinum into the market. Platinum sales contributed 65% to turnover.
