Living room   Simple and inexpensive ideas will make your room bigger

If you have small room that doesn't mean you have to design it with just or two elements. Cleverly chosen, fully-functional furniture with a twist will make your room look like a big one.

Industrial ModularModular furniture pieces are way to go when you need function in a smal room. The Industrial Modular 124 cm Media Console found at West Elm is a good example. It offers plenty of media storage and shelving space with its two open shelves and two roomy cabinets. Supported by blackened steel frames, each piece is subtly unique, due to the natural colour variations in the mango wood. Its style works very well with different design styles so you won't have hard time fitting it into any existing room.

Industrial StorageAnother way to go for your small space is double-function furniture. Lofted on airy steel legs, the Industrial Storage Coffee Table's top pops up to reveal a boatload of hidden storage. Its richly grained solid wood body makes each piece subtly one-of-a-kind. This piece may find its way in any room, from a small living room to kids room where there's always a lack of space. Find a nice colorful rug and you are good to go.

Herringbone RugOne of the ways to make your small room bigger is - rugs. They can be used to visually divide your room into functional areas without additional walls or tall drawers. Neutral ground, classic herringbone stripes add subtle sophistication to the floor in a rich slate color. Crafted from durable, soft-to-the-touch chenille, this West Elm's rug is particularly durable and it looks nice. Neutral color means that you don't have to worry too much about the rest of your room, this rug will find its place just like that.

Maisie Side TableAnd the final advice is - cut corners. Round furniture not only takes up less space, it's also easier to maneuver around in tight spaces. With its sculptural metal base and available in a range of top materials and finishes, the Maisie Side Table make a modern statement displayed alone. Best of all, the two sizes can be nested together for more surface space and extra style. Choose the top material you like - glass, metal, wood or anything else - and if you have a bit more space you can even put two tables in the room. Fast, easy and elegant solution.
