South Korea banned sales of almost all Volkswagen cars and handed down heavy fines on the German auto maker.

The Ministry of Environment revoked the certification of 80 models sold by Volkswagen and its premium Audi brand in the country and banned the sale of 83,000 cars.
The ministry also fined Volkswagen 17.8 billion won ($16.1 million), saying it fabricated documents to obtain the certification. ■
