SkyPower sign agreements with Madhya Pradesh, Djibouti and Bangladesh

SkyPower has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to provide 150 megawatts (MW) AC of utility-scale solar power to the Indian state.

“SkyPower is committed to making a powerful contribution to India’s goal of generating 100 gigawatts of solar power by 2022,” said Kerry Adler, SkyPower president and chief executive officer.

SkyPower also signed a landmark agreement with Djibouti for the development of 200 MW of world-class solar projects to be built in four phases in Djibouti over the next four years.

“Africa has become a global hub for the growth of clean, renewable energy, and many visionary leaders of African countries are making the decision to harness the power of the sun to create a brighter future for the citizens of their countries,” said SkyPower President and Chief Executive Officer Kerry Adler.

The 200 MW solar project will represent an estimated investment of $$440 million, which also includes corporate social responsibility investments of $$11 million toward education, training, research and development in Djibouti.

The company also made a historic announcement with Prime Minister Hasina, unveiling its plans to build 2 GW of utility-scale solar energy over the next five years in Bangladesh, representing an investment of $4.3 billion.

As part of this historic moment for Bangladesh, SkyPower also announced it will be gifting 1.5 million SkyPower Home solar kits to people of Bangladesh over the course of the next five years.
