Riga port retained the status of a leader in the Baltic States in 2015. Cargo turnover at the Freeport of Riga totaled 40.06 mln. tons in 2015, down by 2.5 % or 1.02 mln. tons compared to 2014.

e amount of 6.19 mln. tons, which is a 12.4 % decrease year-on-year. Liquid cargo increased 3.3 % from 2014 to 10.6 mln. tons in 2015. As many as 99.2 % of all liquid cargo reloaded at the Riga port were oil products. Handling of oil products rose by 332,600 tons last year to a new record-high the port' s history or 10.54 mln. tons.
In 2015 the Riga port served 526,200 passengers. With the reduction of the number of Tallink ferries running between Riga and Stockholm, the number of ferry passengers has declined 32.5 %.
The number of cruise ships visiting Riga last year increased by six, and the number of cruise ship passengers grew to 69,200. ■
