Empire State   Plug Power is opening a new manufacturing facility in Clifton Park

Plug Power, a provider of alternative energy technology, is expanding in the Capital Region, N.Y.

The company is opening a new manufacturing facility in Clifton Park, Saratoga County, where they will create 97 new jobs. The new location will support increased hydrogen and fuel cell production to meet industry demands while supporting New York's commitment to cleaner and more efficient energy sources.

Plug Power is investing nearly $2.8 million over five years to fit out the 38,400-square-foot facility, allowing the company to vertically integrate its hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing and encourage greater adoption of hydrogen as an alternative energy source.

The facility will be used to manufacture Plug Power's hydrogen fuel cell solutions for electric vehicle and material handling applications.

The company has committed to creating 97 new jobs, and Empire State Development will provide nearly $640,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits.
