Not mentioning Libya's warring parties, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) condemned any attempt to block oil export terminals for its serious economic aftermaths for this nation.

'Oil and gas sectors are pivotal elements for Libyan economy and the only source of income... They are not cards to play in order to solve political issues,' Mustafa Sanalla, NOC chairman, said.

Preventing oil exports and output will brought about foreseeable consequences, and if prolonged, we would deal with a huge collapse, an increased, unsustainable trade deficit as well as withdrawal of foreign contractors, he stated.

Sanalla warned that in the event of an eventual closure of oil fields, Libya has limited fuel storage in ports for export.

Blocking oil facilities is considered as criminal act and a capital offense under Libyan law, he stressed.

This nation has been in chaos since the 2011 constitutional government overthrow, following a foreign intervention led by NATO's member nations.
