Japanese construction consultancy Nippon Koei has won an order for an airport expansion project in Bangladesh, along with four local partners, for some 4.6 billion yen ($42.1 million).
Asia Japanese government to provide $42.1m loan
The government hopes to open the new facility in August 2022, and hopes to increase the number of passengers the airport can handle annually by 50% to 12 million.
The project will cost an estimated 192 billion yen, which will be provided by the Japanese government as yen loans.
The consortium plans to hold an auction between later this year and early next year to invite bids for the construction of the planned facilities.
Construction is scheduled to start next year. ■
