The company said the suspension of operations at 76 oil-producing wells and 61 water injection wells was impacting employment and the purchase of goods and services from local companies.
Local businesses that supply the company with a range of services, from food to transportation of personnel and cargo, rental equipment, lodgings, cleaning and maintenance, suffered due to the current operation shutdown.
Ecopetrol said it also suspended work contracts with 365 people, mostly local residents.
Ecopetrol called on federal authorities to take stronger security measures so the company can resume operations in the area. ■
