Belgian Competition Authority approves Car Assistance and Van Mossel Automotive deal

The Investigation and Prosecution Service of the Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) has approved on 12 November 2019 the acquisition of Car Assistance Company NV by Van Mossel Automotive Groep 4 NV.

The merger was notified on 23 October 2019. The application of the simplified procedure was requested.

The merger concerns the sector of motor vehicles.

Van Mossel Automotive Groep 4 NV is a subsidiary of Van Mossel Automotive Group and is active in Belgium in the retail sale of various car brands (Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Kia, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Toyota).

Car Assistance Company NV sells Mercedes branded passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Belgium.

In its decision of 12 November 2019, the BCA finds that the conditions for the application of the simplified procedure are met and that the notified merger does not raise any objection.
