AmRest Holdings SE, an international fast-food and casual dining restaurant operator headquartered in Poland, announced that it was acquiring the Bulgarian and Romanian businesses of Starbucks.
Acquisition and food business Starbucks in Bulgaria and Romania are worth 16 million euros
According to official reports, as cited by money.bg, the deal for the Starbucks businesses in Bulgaria, currently held by Greek firm Marinopoulos Coffee Company, and Romania is worth 16 million euros.
The deal involves the acquisition of 14 Starbucks coffee shops in Romania and 5 in Bulgaria.
AmRest currently operates 67 Starbucks coffee shops in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The Polish company is also present on markets outside the region and has over 21 000 employees. The company also operates restaurants of KFC, Burger King, and Pizza Hut, among other.
AmRest Group's revenues for the third quarter of 2014 stand at EUR 185 M, while its market capitalization currently amounts to around EUR 604 M.
Starbucks opened its first location in Bulgaria in 2008. The current network of the coffee chain includes four sites in Sofia and one in Burgas. ■
