Earlier this week, Amazon temporarily stopped taking orders on non-essential products on its sites in Italy and France.

The initiative has been rolled out in response to a significant increase in orders.

According to Amazon, essentials products include health & household, baby, beauty & personal care, groceries, and pet supplies.

As reported by Reuters, shoppers in Italy and France are still able to order non-essential products from sellers on Amazon that do not use Amazon logistics to fulfil and ship orders, although deliveries may take longer.

The retailer has now temporarily stopped taking orders and has disabled shipments for lower-priority products in India.

For pending orders on non-essentials, Amazon is giving customers the choice to cancel and receive a refund for prepaid items.
