Retail   Two big companies in a battle for customers
Using the Prime Now mobile app, Seattle customers can view participating restaurants, browse menus, place orders and track the status of their delivery in real time. Once an order is placed, Amazon delivery drivers pick up and deliver the food within an hour or less.

Restaurant delivery on Prime Now offers customers transparent pricing—there are no menu markups or hidden service fees, and delivery on all orders is free for a limited time. Customers pay using the information already stored in their Amazon account and orders are backed by Amazon’s customer service.

At the same time, Google confirmed it will test a same-day delivery service for fresh foods later this year.

Google will first test the service in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as one other, to-be-named US city. Google Express already delivers packaged foods, but this is the first time the company will deliver fresh foods. Google will partner with chains including Whole Foods and Costco for the delivery service.
